University of Fribourg Validation
The effectiveness of electromagnetic water treatment has been validated by studies conducted at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Detailed scientific validation
LIMPEO technology rests on a physical principle studied for over 30 years by the international scientific community. The electromagnetic field generated by the device modifies the crystallisation kinetics of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Instead of forming calcite — the adhesive, scale-forming crystal structure — calcium crystallises as aragonite, a non-adhesive structure that remains suspended in the water and is naturally flushed away.
The University of Fribourg conducted in-depth studies on this mechanism, confirming a calcite-to-aragonite conversion rate of 88% under controlled conditions. Researchers also measured a significant reduction in deposit formation on pipe walls and heating equipment. These results are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, guaranteeing their reliability and reproducibility.
Complementary studies by Trinity College Dublin (Coey & Cass, 2000) and the Jozef Stefan Institute (Kobe et al., 2001) corroborate these findings. The 2024 MDPI review, which synthesises the entire body of scientific literature on electromagnetic water treatment, concludes that the majority of researchers agree on the effectiveness of this technology for preventing limescale deposits.
Manufacturing quality process
Every LIMPEO follows a rigorous manufacturing process at our Eure-et-Loir workshops. Electronic components and electromagnetic coils are assembled by hand by qualified technicians. Each unit undergoes individual quality control including electrical testing, verification of the generated magnetic field, and thorough visual inspection.
Full traceability for every LIMPEO is ensured through a unique serial number, allowing the entire production chain to be traced. This industrial rigour, combined with the selection of high-quality components, is why we can confidently offer a 25-year warranty.
